Instructor’s Welcome Message
Hello Class,
Welcome! I will be your instructor for this course. It is a [duration of course] course that requires time, organization, and dedication. Use the syllabus to guide you through all assignments. Please also review the attached classroom policies carefully and reach out if you have any questions.
You can email me or send me a message via the message icon in Halo. I check emails regularly, and I will respond within 24 hours. If you don't hear from me within 24 hours and have an urgent matter, please follow up with a text.
Assignment Planning Advice:
-
Please do not wait until the last minute to complete assignments, especially for weeks 4 and 5, which require you to prepare a teaching plan and interview a community health provider.
-
Review the requirements for these assignments early in the course and plan ahead.
-
I have posted a 32-minute video explaining the class assignments in detail. You must watch this video because assignments from weeks 3-5 require following the instructions carefully to succeed.
-
After watching the video, schedule a 15-minute one-on-one session with me to discuss your project topic by the second week of class. Call me at the scheduled time. I will not call you.
Assignment Submission Guidelines:
- I do not accept assignments via email. If you have technical issues with uploading an assignment, contact the technical department and inform me of the issue.
- If you have any issues preventing you from submitting assignments on time, please inform me to request an extension. Late assignments will be deducted 5% per day unless an extension is approved.
- Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Ensure you cite sources correctly in APA 7th edition.
- All assignments must be formatted according to APA style, including spacing, font, margins, and indents. If the formatting is incorrect, I will return the assignment to you.
Discussion Post Requirements:
- Initial Discussion Post: Minimum of 200 words. Use at least two references for the initial post.
- Response Post: Minimum of 150 words. You don’t need references for response posts unless you cite something from the literature.
- For each discussion question, you must have one initial substantive response and two responses to classmates or the instructor. This totals three responses for each discussion question.
- Since there are two discussion questions each week, you need a total of six responses per week.
Participation Guidelines (Replies to Classmates or Instructor):
- Minimum of 6 responses per week, spread across at least 3 days of the week.
- Each response must have at least one reference with citations, preferably from a peer-reviewed journal article.
- Each response must be at least 75 words (not including references).
- Responses must be substantive and add value to the discussion. "I agree" or "great post" does not count toward the word count.
- Use APA 7th edition formatting.
- Points will be deducted if these guidelines are not followed.
Reminder:
- Always follow APA-7th edition for weekly assignments, discussion questions, and participation posts.
