Discuss what resources are often necessary for nonacute care for cardiorespiratory issues

question

Question

After being diagnosed with cardiorespiratory issues, a patient may require a range of resources. Determine whether any possible demands are based on the sickness process, whether cardiac, respiratory, or both. Some patients need to utilize durable medical equipment at home, such as a walker or oxygen.

When using this technology, the home may need to be changed to make it more secure, for as by moving furniture or lifting carpets to prevent trip hazards. Several modifications are required for an independent individual who is now dependant on rides to appointments and assistance with showering.

Medication resources are critical due to the high expense of prescriptions, particularly for individuals with insurance. To keep patients from running out of life-saving medications, we must make sure they have access to them and the resources to fill them (Johnson, 2018).

  • Discuss what resources are often necessary for nonacute care for cardiorespiratory issues.
  • Explain how they support patient independence and decrease readmission.

Re: Topic 1 DQ 2

Cardiorespiratory problems affect many people, and rehabilitation for both is available. The American Heart Association defines cardiac rehabilitation as a program that promotes cardiovascular health through exercise counseling, education for heart-healthy living, and stress reduction counseling (What is Cardiac Rehabilitation, n.d.).

Pulmonary rehabilitation is a program designed for people with chronic breathing problems that aims to improve their ability to work and quality of life through education, nutritional counseling, information about the condition and how to manage it, energy-saving techniques, breathing strategies, and psychological counseling and/or support organizations (COPD, 2019).

Other supplies required for nonacute care for cardiorespiratory issues include home health, which helps people understand their disease process, get help with medication administration, and learn about the use of durable medical equipment. Home health care may also include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and social workers, allowing people to receive a higher level of care from a variety of disciplines.

As previously stated, all of the resources promote patient independence by implementing quality of care and quality of life for patients, which reduces readmission. A person is more likely to be compliant and want to live a more active lifestyle if they have the support of doctors, nurses, family, and friends. Individuals can live a better life by educating themselves and taking steps to manage their disease.
