Fund Development Strategy
You are the new financial director for the Friends of Society nonprofit organization. Your CEO has given you your first task: You must develop and implement a campaign to raise $10,000 over the next three months from new, young donors who have had little previous connection with Friends of Society.
The new program these funds will support is called "Each One, Reach One" and is designed to stimulate civil and public discourse in a politically fractured community. It has been developed in response to a recent incident where several young people were injured as a result of a fight at a political rally in town. The money raised will be used to sponsor Town Hall-type gatherings that will be monitored by prominent, non-political leaders to discuss current societal challenges.
Your budget to raise the money is $1,500. Of that budget $1,000 has been pledged by a female attorney who is new to the board and has a strong interest in the issue. She is planning to run for a spot on the county board of commissioners next year.
Assignment Instructions
For this assignment, your task is to develop a plan, timeline, and list of activities and responsibilities for accomplishing the goal. You must present a compelling case for support, describe your prospective donors, and detail your approach. You need to articulate how you will utilize the board of directors and other volunteers in this process. Your strategy, techniques, and message must be clearly and explicitly explained. You must also address any potential ethical concerns and demonstrate a neutral political position in the midst of a highly charged situation.
Be sure you support your recommendations and plan with scholarly resources. Your assignment needs to address the following:
- Will your campaign emphasize the organization or the cause?
- What methods will you use to raise the $10,000?
- How will you use the resources you have available including volunteers?
- What is the best use of technology in this effort?
- What message will you use that will generate interest across gender, culture, and economic status?
- Are there any potential ethical issues that could arise?
Before submitting your assignment, review the scoring guide.
