When Do CPA Scores Come Out for the Rest of 2026?
Core section scores are released on a rolling basis. Your release date depends on when the AICPA receives your exam data file from Prometric, the company that delivers the exam, not on the day you sat for the section. The AICPA's score release schedule pairs each data-receipt cutoff with a target release date.
The most recent core release targeted Oct. 9, so there is no CPA score release today, Oct. 22.
| AICPA Receives Core Exam Data File By | Target Score Release Date |
|---|---|
| Sept. 30, 2026 | Oct. 9, 2026 (released) |
| Oct. 23, 2026 | Nov. 10, 2026 |
| Nov. 15, 2026 | Nov. 24, 2026 |
| Dec. 8, 2026 | Dec. 16, 2026 |
| Dec. 31, 2026 | Jan. 12, 2027 |
Testing on a cutoff date does not guarantee that cycle. NASBA's score information page suggests taking the exam "one or two days before the cutoff date" if you are aiming for a specific release.
Why Some Sites List Nov. 7 and Nov. 25
Some prep-provider pages and older search results show Nov. 7 and Nov. 25 as November release dates. Those are 2025 dates. Gleim's score release page lists Nov. 7 and Nov. 25 only in its 2025 schedule, and its 2026 schedule matches the AICPA's Nov. 10 and Nov. 24 targets.
The AICPA page prints its table as one run of alternating cutoff and release dates. NASBA's own 2026 table pairs them the same way, with Oct. 23 leading to Nov. 10.
CPA Discipline Score Release Dates and 2026 Testing Windows
The three discipline sections, Business Analysis and Reporting (BAR), Information Systems and Controls (ISC) and Tax Compliance and Planning (TCP), are not offered year-round. The AICPA says they are "administered in the first month of each quarter," so candidates can sit for them only in January, April, July and October.
The current window, which closes Oct. 31, 2026, is the last of the year. Each window's scores share one target date.
| Discipline Testing Window | Target Score Release Date |
|---|---|
| July 1-31, 2026 | Sept. 11, 2026 (released) |
| Oct. 1-31, 2026 | Dec. 15, 2026 |
| Jan. 1-31, 2027 | March 16, 2027 |
| April 1-30, 2027 | June 9, 2027 |
CPA Score Release Dates 2027
For 2027 core sections, files received by Jan. 23 have a target release of Feb. 9, and files received by Feb. 14 have a target of Feb. 23. The rolling schedule ends with a June 30, 2027, cutoff and a July 13 target.
The calendar changes after that. The AICPA says the exam moves to a new delivery platform in July 2027. Core sections taken July 12 to Sept. 30, 2027, have one target release, Oct. 19, 2027, and discipline sections taken July 12 to Aug. 12 have a Sept. 28 target.
How NASBA CPA Score Release Works
The AICPA scores the exam and sets the timeline. NASBA says it "does not develop the content of the CPA Exam, nor is it responsible for scoring" it, and that neither NASBA nor state boards can release scores early.
Once scores arrive from the AICPA, NASBA "processes and posts scores for participating jurisdictions." Candidates in most jurisdictions see results in the NASBA Candidate Portal or the NASBA CPA Mobile App. Some jurisdictions post scores themselves, so check with your board.
NASBA says scores are "generally posted within 48 hours" after it begins receiving them. Gleim notes that some boards may need at least one additional day beyond the published target. Your official Score Notice is typically available in the CPA Portal within 72 hours after the advisory score posts, according to NASBA.
How Long Do Passed CPA Sections Count?
The AICPA says candidates must complete all four sections "within at least 30 months" and that in some states the timeline extends to as long as three years. The 30-month window came from an amendment NASBA's board adopted on April 21, 2023, which extended the old 18-month window.
Under NASBA's model rule, the clock is based on the date the score for your first passed section is released. The model rule has no automatic effect, though, and each state board decides whether and how to adopt it. NASBA notes that credit expiration times are set in Central Standard Time, not by your appointment time.
That makes release dates matter: a pass reported Nov. 10 starts a different clock than one reported Dec. 16. For another professional exam timeline, see July 2026 bar exam results by state.
What to Do After You Get a CPA Score
A score of 75 or higher is a pass. NASBA says scores are not curved. If you did not pass, NASBA says your Score Notice includes a Candidate Performance Report, a useful starting point for a retake plan.
NASBA offers a Score Review, which checks that a score was computed correctly but does not re-grade responses, for $240. A formal appeal costs $550 plus $100 per item and is not available in California, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Montana, Texas or Virginia. NASBA adds that "historically, a score has never been changed as a result of a Score Appeal."

What Students Should Do Now
- Check your exam date against the cutoffs: testing by about Oct. 21 gives the best chance of making the Oct. 23 cutoff for a Nov. 10 release.
- If you need a discipline section before year-end, book BAR, ISC or TCP before the window closes Oct. 31, 2026.
- Make sure you can log in to the NASBA Candidate Portal or your state board's site before release day.
- Download your Score Notice when it appears; NASBA says notices are not kept indefinitely.
- Confirm your state's credit window with your board of accountancy before scheduling your next section.
Dates come from the AICPA's CPA Exam score release schedule and NASBA's CPA Exam score information page as of Oct. 22, 2026. All release dates are AICPA target dates and may change.
