Overview and Research

In this assessment, you will present the research you have conducted by providing an overview of the theories you chose in Milestone Two. You will show the research you have conducted in the form of an annotated bibliography with at least five resources. this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes:

• Analyze seminal theories of literary criticism for their impacts to historical and modern interpretations of literature
• Analyze existing assumptions for building a theoretical foundation for informed critical application

Prompt In Final Project One: You should provide a brief overview of the two theories you chose in Milestone Two. Then, you will show the research you have conducted thus far in the form of an annotated bibliography with at least five sources in total, consisting of two existing applications of literary theory, such as the theoretical essays in our textbook, and three examples of existing critical scholarship about your chosen literary text. Finally, give a working thesis statement.  Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed: 

Overview (1-2 paragraphs) 

Salient Points: Concisely and accurately explain the salient points of the theories.

Theory: Explain what is intriguing and why you chose these two theories. Defend your response.

Annotated Bibliography: Existing Applications 

Recognized Scholars: Identify at least two theoretical essays that show existing applications of your two literary theories. For example, you can use any of the essays in our textbook or other essays by major theorists in your chosen fields. For example, for Marxism, you could use scholars like Marx, Althusser, Lukács, Marcuse, or Adorno and Horkheimer. In your annotations for these essays, explain how you will use these essays in your paper.   

Strengths and Weaknesses: Identify potential strengths and weaknesses in these essays. For example, consider how this theory might highlight issues that are otherwise overlooked, or what might be unaccounted for when you use this theory. The annotation for each essay should be approximately one paragraph in length in total. 

Annotated Bibliography: Interpret Literature  Existing Critical Scholarship: Identify and annotate at least three examples of existing critical scholarship about the literary text you chose in Milestone One. These articles should be written by experts, and preferably be published in a peer- reviewed journal or similar publication. For example, you could use a Marxist analysis of Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle. In your annotations for these articles, explain what the author’s main argument is about the text, and how this article will contribute to your paper. Consider the ways in which you can join the conversation and actively build on this existing critical scholarship with your own argument. Each annotation should be approximately one paragraph in length.  

Interpret Literature: Thesis  Interpret Literature: Propose your own interpretation in the form of a thesis statement. This single- sentence statement should identify your text, author, chosen theories, and an original argument that examines a single topic through two theoretical lenses.  Attached is the theories from Milestone 2 the assignment is three pages with 5 sources
