What Is MyAccountingLab?
MyAccountingLab is Pearson's online homework and tutorial platform for accounting courses, now sold under the name MyLab Accounting. It is usually paired with a Pearson accounting textbook, and instructors use it to assign homework, quizzes and tests that are graded automatically. The main student tools include:
- Personalized Study Plan: tracks your results on homework, quizzes and tests and recommends practice on the topics where you lost points.
- Help Me Solve This: breaks a problem into smaller guided steps and links to the relevant pages of the eText.
- Dynamic Study Modules: adaptive question sets that adjust to how well you know each chapter topic, useful for review before exams.
- Pearson eText: the digital textbook, with worked examples you can refer back to while you work.
- Accounting Cycle Tutorial: interactive lessons with videos and animations that walk through each step of the accounting cycle, often assigned for credit.
- Excel Projects: auto-graded assignments in which you download a spreadsheet, complete the problem in Microsoft Excel and upload the file back to MyLab.
Access Codes and Course IDs
To join a course you need an access code, which is either bundled with a new textbook or bought separately as a digital or printed access card, plus the course ID your instructor provides. You register the code with your Pearson account before your first assignment. If you cannot log in or a page will not load, Pearson's own support handles access and technical problems; our guide to why Pearson is not working covers the most common fixes.
Why There Is No Real MyAccountingLab Answer Key
Many websites claim to sell MyAccountingLab answer keys. They do not work, for three reasons:
- Algorithmic questions: many MyAccountingLab problems generate different numbers for each student, so a classmate's answers or a list posted online will not match your version.
- Instructor control: your instructor chooses the questions, the number of attempts and the scoring settings for each assignment. The only real answer key sits inside the instructor's course.
- Scams and security risks: answer-key downloads and "unlock" tools are a common source of malware and stolen logins, and using them can lead to an academic integrity case.
What actually helps is understanding the method. Once you know why inventory is credited when goods are sold, or why depreciation expense is debited at period end, new numbers stop being a problem.
How Our MyAccountingLab Homework Help Works
Ace My Homework uses a bidding model, so you choose your tutor and control the price.
- Post the problems. Copy the question text or attach screenshots, and add the chapter, textbook edition, any rounding or formatting instructions, your deadline and your budget.
- Compare bids. Accounting tutors send bids. Review their profiles, ratings and reviews, and chat with them before deciding, for example to check they know managerial accounting or Excel.
- Pay for the bid you choose. Your tutor starts work and you can track progress and send messages along the way.
- Download the solutions. You receive step-by-step workings you can compare with your own, and you can request revisions if anything does not match your instructions.
You do not need to share your Pearson username or password. The problem text, screenshots and any data tables are enough for a tutor to work through the solution, and keeping your login private protects your account. If you have a question about an order, support is available through live chat or at support@acemyhomework.com.
What a Good Worked Solution Includes
- Every journal entry with account titles, debits and credits, and a short explanation of why each account is affected.
- T-accounts, schedules or worksheets where they make the logic clearer, such as a depreciation schedule or a bank reconciliation.
- Formulas written out before the numbers are plugged in, for example contribution margin ratio or the current ratio.
- Notes on rounding and on how to enter the result in MyAccountingLab's format.
MyAccountingLab Answers by Topic
Tutors cover the full range of chapters in introductory, financial, managerial and cost accounting courses that use MyAccountingLab.
The Accounting Cycle
The accounting equation, transaction analysis, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, posting to the general ledger, the trial balance, adjusting entries, the worksheet and closing entries. Early chapters on recognizing which transactions need recording, and how to classify them, are where many students first fall behind, because every later chapter builds on them.
Assets, Liabilities and Equity
Bank reconciliations, accounts receivable and bad debt estimates, inventory costing under FIFO, LIFO and weighted average, plant assets with straight-line and declining-balance depreciation, amortization of intangibles, current liabilities and payables, revenue recognition, partnership and corporation accounting, and the statement of stockholders' equity.
Financial Statements and Analysis
Preparing the income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows, including the indirect method, then analyzing them with horizontal and vertical analysis and financial ratios such as liquidity, profitability and solvency measures. Our overview of financial accounting and the financial statements is a useful refresher before these chapters.
Managerial and Cost Accounting
Cost behavior, cost-volume-profit and break-even analysis, job order and process costing, budgeting and forecasting, standard costs and variance analysis, and capital budgeting with net present value and payback. For coursework beyond the platform, see our managerial accounting homework help.
Other Topics
Tax accounting basics, auditing and assurance concepts, accounting ethics and professional standards, plus Excel Projects that require formulas, cell references and properly formatted schedules. If spreadsheets are the sticking point, our Excel homework help page explains the support available.
Why MyAccountingLab Marks Your Answer Wrong
A lot of lost points have nothing to do with understanding the concept. Before you use your last attempt, check for these common problems:
- Rounding: the question asks for whole dollars or two decimal places and you rounded in an intermediate step instead of only at the end.
- Account titles: you chose an account that sounds right but is not the exact title used in that chapter, such as Supplies versus Supplies Expense.
- Debit and credit order: debits are usually entered first, and a credit placed in the debit column will be marked wrong even if the amount is correct.
- Carried-forward errors: in multi-part problems, a mistake in part one flows into every later part, so recheck the first answer before changing the rest.
- "No entry required": some events, such as signing a contract before any service is performed, do not need a journal entry at all.
- Signs and formats: entering a negative number or parentheses where the form expects a positive amount, or typing a percentage where a decimal is required.
How to Do Better on MyAccountingLab on Your Own
Outside help works best alongside good habits. These strategies help most students raise their homework scores and prepare for tests:
- Break each problem down. Identify the key facts, decide which accounting concept applies, then apply it one step at a time.
- Use the eText before guessing. The worked example in the chapter usually mirrors the homework problem closely.
- Open Help Me Solve This on practice versions. Walk through the steps, then try a similar problem again without the guide.
- Follow your Study Plan. It points you to the exact topics where you lost points, which is the best use of limited study time.
- Review before submitting. Check that debits equal credits, that totals carry correctly between statements, and that rounding follows the instructions.
- Ask early. Your instructor, TA or campus tutoring center can explain a concept before it becomes a backlog of missed assignments.

Quizzes, Tests and Academic Integrity
Tutors can help you prepare for MyAccountingLab quizzes and tests with practice problems, topic reviews and explanations of the questions you missed on homework. Graded quizzes and exams are meant to show your own understanding, and many courses set specific rules for them. You are responsible for following your school's academic integrity policy and your instructor's rules on outside help, so use worked solutions to learn the method and check your own answers.
